Cookie Fraction Fun


We had so much fun pretending we were making cookies this week! Students rolled their play-doh out and cut square cookies. Then, they explored different ways of cutting their cookies into fourths. We had a blast!

How many more/fewer

Here is an example of a "how many more/fewer" question and how to answer it:

Jimmy and Ashley went to the candy store. Jimmy got eight pieces of gum. Ashley got three pieces of gum. How many fewer pieces of gum does Ashley have?

Draw pictures for the items each person has:
Subtract the pieces of candy Ashley has from the pieces of candy Jimmy has:
Write a subtraction problem:
8-3=5

Ashley has 5 fewer pieces of candy.
