Contraction Surgery

Today, we pretended we were doctors working on our "patients." Our patients were words that wanted to be contractions. Students cut off letters that they didn't need to make a contraction, and then put an apostrophe band-aid on the words so they could heal. One student said, "This is like a game, but we're learning!" Another student said, "I wish we could do this everyday!" I loved their excitement and energy as we learned and had fun!
