Pumpkin Carving

We took a little time out of our day to say a prayer and carve a pumpkin. Here is the prayer we prayed and the pumpkin we carved.

Dear God,
As I carve my pumpkin help me say this prayer:

Open my mind so I can learn about You;
(Cut the top of the pumpkin)

Take away all my sin and forgive me for the wrong things I do.
(Clean out the inside)

Open my eyes so Your love I will see;
(Cut the eyes)

I'm so sorry for turning up my nose to all you've given me.
(Cut a nose)

Open my ears so your word I will hear.
(Cut the ears)

Open my mouth so I can tell others You're near
(cut the mouth)

Let Your light shine in all I say and do! Amen.
(Place a candle inside and light it)

DECADE DAY, WACKY TACKY DAY, LAZY DAY

I confess, for the past two days I have been in preparation for lazy day by not creating any new posts! It seems as though the themes of each day have effected our behavior. Monday we were sleepy, yesterday we were all out of our minds, and today we are all just lazy and refuse to do any work!

Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!

Thanks for supplying our classroom with some awesome books! Since you all ordered so many books, we were able to get everything you see in this picture! A special thank you to the parents of Bailey, Elizabeth, Emma, Fiona, and Leah for purchasing some of the book sets showed in the photo.

Have you checked your fire alarms lately?

We learned a lot of things about fire safety with the help of our friends from the fire station. These clowns taught us what to do when there is a fire, and who to call when we need help. Stop, drop, and roll! We learned about E.D.I.T.H. One clown said, "I know what that is! When I'm hungry I EDITH some food!." Another clown replied, "No, silly, E.D.I.T.H. stands for exit drills in the home."

Have you created an exit drill for your home? Make sure you talk with your child about how to exit your home in case there is a fire.

Welcome to our new blog!

The weather is beginning to change and I am loving it! Just like the weather, things in our classroom are changing a little as well. I will be posting the skills that we are working on throughout each week on our blog. These posts will be entitled "Skills Spotlight". I will also post links periodically that will help your student practice the skills we learn in our room. I encourage you to post comments, ask questions, praise your student(s) and give feedback. This blog is an invaluable communication tool between you and I, so make sure you check it regularly.
